[W104] Andrés Flórez: Expanding the discovery reach at the LHC using Vector Boson Fusion

Abstract

Vector boson fusion (VBF) has become a powerful tool to explore regions of difficult experimental access at the LHC. VBF has been successfully used at the CMS experiment to explore the compressed mass spectra region in supersymmetry. It also has been proposed in several phenomenological articles as a tool to study the production of Z’ bosons with suppressed couplings to the color sector, the production of heavy neutrinos, the so called anapole dark matter, gravitons, among other physics scenarios. The talk will concentrate on explaining these interesting physics scenarios and how VBF could help in the discovery of physics beyond the standard model at the LHC
