Light by light scattering and the 750 GeV diphoton excess

ATLAS and CMS have observed an excess in the diphoton invariant mass spectrum around 750 GeV. I will first discuss the minimal possibility that this excess is due to a scalar SM-singlet resonance that does not couple to gluons, and which is produced only in photon fusion. In a second part I describe a method that allows to measure the photon coupling of a possible 750 GeV resonance, irrespective of its other couplings and main production mode.
